the narniad

This concept boxed set was my senior project for the Samford University graphic design program. The project was inspired by a theory, as put forth in Michael Ward’s Planet Narnia, that each book in C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia was thematically inspired by the seven classical heavenly bodies. This idea and the mythological richness of the books lent themselves wonderfully to an ornate illustration style. Each cover is packed full of references to themes, characters, myths, and symbolism associated with the books.

Additionally, I created a fictional publishing house that would handle the publishing and distribution of C.S. Lewis’ works.

The project won a silver AAF Birmingham Addy Award and then won gold in the AAF District 7 (southeast) competition.
